Child Protection

In recent years, as a society, we have become very aware of the problem of child abuse through neglect, emotional, physical or sexual abuse. Each one of us has a duty to protect children and teachers, who are the main care givers to children outside the family, are particularly well placed to observe and monitor children for signs of abuse.

In December 2017 new guidelines for child protection were launched. These new guidelines require all schools to prepare a Child Safeguarding Statement. This work has been completed by the Board of management, and the Child Safeguarding Statement for St Mary's NS was ratified by the Board of Management and is available to all members of the school community here.

This statement replaces our former Child Protection Policy.
